What is hiding in my garden?

This was my very first commission piece. It holds a special place in my heart for this reason and many more.

This piece hangs in my dear best friend's firstborn child's room. Her only request for this painting was the word "moody". Working from that I wanted to create a piece that reflected the unwavering imagination of children.

Knowing her as beautifully souled as she is, I knew her wee boy would grow up to be just as earthy, wholesome, adventurous, free-spirited, and organic as her. I wanted to paint a scene where after a day of gardening with his mum or Nana, climbing trees, picking flowers or vegetables, he could let his mind wander as to what little critters and smaller worlds are hiding amongst us and in our gardens. When he lay down to go to sleep, I hoped he would look up at his painting and imagine what critters he saw that day.
